Despite our best intentions, research shows we all have it – unconscious, unintentional bias. Unconscious attitudes and beliefs are shaped by all kinds of influences – some of which we would not agree with or accept on a conscious level. Yet, these unconscious thoughts can influence decision-making and can have a profound impact in decision-making for clients, in talent management processes in the workplace, and with respect to interactions with other external stakeholders such as witnesses, opposing counsel, litigants, judges, and community members.

Attend this engaging and interactive session to learn more about how to recognize your own unconscious biases as well as practical ways to interrupt them.

We are pleased to welcome Kathleen Nalty, J.D. to speak to our members. Kathleen is a lawyer, author, and expert in diversity, equity and inclusion. She has received multiple awards for her thought leadership and advocacy for DEI. She is an expert in strategies for creating cultures of inclusion to retain and advance diverse talent. She specializes in helping organizations identify systemic issues that cause higher attrition rates for people in already underrepresented groups.

HOW IT WORKS:

Step two –  On or before the day of the event, the AWL Events Committee will send you an e-mail that contains the link to the Zoom meeting, the meeting ID and the password;

Step three – If you don’t have it, download Zoom onto your IPAD, IPOD, Phone or computer from zoom.us;

Step four – Click on the link from AWL’s email and you will be linked to the event. Follow the prompts and enter the meeting ID and passcode that AWL gave you (Note – on some connections you might not need a passcode but enter it if requested);

Step five – You will be linked to our AWL Allyship, Diversity and Inclusion event! Enjoy this important discussion!
