Join us for a formal luncheon to hear a Keynote Address by Marjorie Hickey Q.C., presenting counsel for the Canadian Judicial Council at the Camp Inquiry, followed by a panel discussion including Alice Woolley, professor of law at the University of Calgary and one of the initiating complainants in the Camp inquiry and Lise Gotell, professor, Vice-Dean and chair of women’s and gender studies at the University of Alberta as well as chair of the board of directors of LEAF, an intervener in the Camp inquiry. This distinguished panel will be moderated by Deanna Steblyk, past president of the Association of Women Lawyers.
Marjorie Hickey is a Partner at McInnes Cooper in Halifax with a varied practice that includes a focus on professional liability and disciplinary matters. Marjorie is past present of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and is a frequent lecturer on matters involving the regulation of professionals. She is also a retired Commander in the Naval Reserve and formerly sat on the Minister of National Defence’s Advisory Board on Gender Integration and Employment Equity in the Canadian Forces. Marjorie is the recipient of many awards, including Lexpert’s Zenith Award and the NS Barristers’ Society Distinguished Service Award. She has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, is ranked in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, has been recognized by Best Lawyers® Canada and is also listed as Provincial Litigation Star in Benchmark Canada 2015.
